The [Eudora Internet Mail Server] (EIMS) is an IMAP enabled mail server for Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X.
SquirrelMail works with this server, but you might have to:
# set "Enable UID support" to FALSE
# set "Allow server charset search" to FALSE
Both of these settings can be found under general options when running the conf.pl script.
