Version 1.4.15
Security Upgrade
Plugins - Virus Scan
Category: Obsolete

It is not recommended that you use this plugin, as its signature database has not been updated in awhile. A new / better version (perl) is in the works that doesn't put such a huge strain on my web server.

* Simplistic Virus Scanning ability (with over 112 signatures of common Mass Mail viruses)
* Blocks users from downloading infected files (except excludes users, just warns)
* A warning is displayed when the user tries to download the file
* Users can be excluded by username
* Can Auto-Update virus signatures, with a configurable time
* Signatures are mirrored for redundency
* Internationalized (Just need some translators)
* RG = 0 Compatible
* E_ALL Compatible
* Faster loading SM Compatible
* SM Version checking Compatible

Version 0.5
by Jimmy Conner on Apr 17, 2004
[ This version is not available. You might be able to get it by asking on the "squirrelmail-plugins" mailing list or by contacting the author. ]
Requires: SquirrelMail 1.4.0

Description:
* Major Bug Fix - Unconfigured clients (No write access to virussignatures.php) are hammering my server once every 1-60 seconds.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE configure your plugin correctly!!
* Updating Signatures will now not return signatures that will not run on your
version of VirusScan, this opens up the ability to add new wildcard signatures wihout breaking older clients
* Fixed bug where it would always check for updates at login, sometimes freezing your SM Install upon login
* A few small fixes

This will be last revision before the better scanning engine (perl) and the 21K signature DB is used. You may try out the beta here SQMail.org

  • Untarring problems: Your browser might have un-gzipped it for you automatically. Try just "tar xvf" instead of "tar xvfz". Also, the plugins archive isn't gzipped (it is a tarball of .tar.gz files)
  • Macintosh users: Just hold down your mouse button to get the menu instead of right-clicking.
